Thieves use 'distraction technique' in jewellery store heist

The hunt is on for eight suspects who made off with nearly $100,000 worth of jewellery from an Ingersoll retailer.

Two men and six women walked into Lesser Brothers Jewellers Ltd. on Thames St. around 11 a.m. Saturday and while some of them distracted the store employee, others broke into a locked display case, Oxford OPP said.

The group then made off with various pieces of jewellery, valued at $99,000.

Police believe a large dark SUV that was seen in the area around the same time as the robbery may be connected to the 8 suspects.

The two male suspects are described as being in their 30's, approximately 6'', with average builds, dark hair and dark facial hair. They were wearing dark bomber style jackets and jeans. The six women were all wearing plain dark full length dresses and head scarves.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
