Knights shut out Kitchener 3-0

Joseph Raaymakers stopped all 30 shots he faced in goal as the London Knights shut out the Kitchener Rangers 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Memorial Auditorium.

It was the first shutout of the season for Raaymakers. With the win, the Knights move into a tie for first place in the OHL Midwest Division with the idle Guelph Storm. Both have 22 points.

Evan Bouchard, recently returned to the Knights from a stint with his NHL team, the Edmonton Oilers, picked up where he left off with his first OHL goal of the year at 6:35 in the first period. The score remained 1-0 London until late in the second period. Sergey Popov collected his first goal of the season with just 38 seconds left in the frame for a 2-0 Knights advantage.

Alex Formenton, also in his first game back with London after starting the season with the Ottawa Senators, added an empty-net goal late in the third.

Lucas Pfeil faced 35 shots in net for the Rangers and stopped 33 of them.

The Knights return to Budweiser Gardens later this week for a three-game homestand. Their first guest will be the Sudbury Wolves on Friday night.
