Police investigating 'dangerous threat' at Strathroy high school

Police are actively investigating a threat at a high school in Strathroy.

The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service said late Wednesday night that the threat involves students at Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, and it has generated a significant amount of social media activity.

"We currently have officers interviewing all of the involved parties in an effort to get to the bottom of the allegations," police said in a statement posted to Facebook. "The investigating officers are reaching out to witnesses and collecting information."

The nature of the threat and how it was made have not been released by police.

School Council Chair Dana Parsons said school administration has been made aware of the "dangerous threat" and they are taking the necessary steps to keep the school safe.

"Ultimately, the decision to send your children to school lies with parents/guardians if you have concerns," Parsons said in a post on the school council's Facebook page.
