Frost possible Monday night

It could be a frosty start to Tuesday for some.

Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Elgin County. The national weather agency expects temperatures to fall to near or below the freezing mark for several hours Monday night.

"Temperatures immediately along the shorelines of the Great Lakes may hover just above the zero degree mark thanks to the relatively mild waters of the lakes," Environment Canada said on its website.

The frosty weather is expected to stick around until after sunrise Tuesday morning when temperatures will begin to rise slightly.

The public, especially people in frost-prone areas, is advised to cover any outdoor flowers and plants. Farmers are warned their crops could also suffer frost damage.

The weather will warm up slightly throughout the day Tuesday with mainly sunny skies and a daytime high of 12 C expected. Temperatures aren't forecast to climb above 12 C at all for the remainder of the week.
