Knights lose to Storm 3-2 in overtime

Nate Schnarr scored the winner as the Guelph Storm beat the London Knights 3-2 in overtime Sunday at the Sleeman Centre.

It's the second loss on a row for London, who remain tied with Owen Sound Attack for third place in the OHL Midwest Division, with eight points each.

Foudy put London on the scoreboard first with his first goal of the contest, at exactly five minutes into the opening segment. Zach Poirier tied the game up for Guelph just over two minutes later.

The Storm took their first lead of the game with the lone goal of the middle period, Ryan Merkley's second goal of the season. The score remained 2-1 Guelph until well into the third period, when Foudy scored his second goal of the game to tie it at two apiece. That goal made the overtime period necessary.

Schnarr's winner was scored just 21 seconds into the extra frame.

Joseph Raaymakers stopped 43 shots in goal for the Knights. Anthony Popovich had 24 saves between the pipes for Guelph.

The Knights return to Budweiser Gardens Friday night and host the Oshawa Generals.
