OPP investigating Belmont armed robbery

Elgin OPP are looking for a suspect after an armed robbery at a Belmont food store.

Police said it happened on October 5 around 7:30 p.m. A man armed with what police are calling an "edged weapon" came into the store and demanded money. The man got away with some cash and no injuries were reported.

OPP officers from the Elgin, Middlesex, and Oxford detachments came to the scene to search for the man. The OPP's Canine Unit also took part in the search. However, no arrest was made.

Police are looking for a white male, over 6 feet tall, over the age of 40, with an unshaven face. He was wearing dark coloured pants and a grey jacket with fur around the edge of the hood. He was carrying a green reusable shopping bag.
