Murder suspect surrenders

After more than a week on the run, the suspect in the murder of Christopher Clements-Card has turned himself in.

London police announced on Friday afternoon that Zachary McDermott, 18, of London surrendered to police at approximately 11 a.m. He is charged with first degree murder and attempted murder by discharging a firearm.

The charges stem from the September 12 shooting of Clements-Card in the Tim Hortons parking lot at 2094 Dundas St. Clements-Card was rushed to hospital where he later died from his injuries. Another person who was with him at the time of the shooting was not physically hurt.

The firearm that was used has yet to be found, according to police.

An arrest warrant for McDermott was issued on September 14.

Two other men, Abel Tesfalem, 19, and Joseph Sibo, 19, were arrested in relation to the murder. They are charged with being an occupant in a motor vehicle with a firearm.
