Environment Canada warning about very strong winds

The final day of summer is going to be a very windy one.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning of strong winds with gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour for much of southwestern Ontario, including Middlesex County, Elgin County, Oxford County, Windsor-Essex, and Chatham-Kent.

The wings are expected to develop Friday afternoon and early in the evening. The stronger gusts are more likely during thunderstorms forecasted for the afternoon.

The winds are associated with a cold front that is passing through the region. It is expected to move out of southwestern Ontario overnight.

Environment Canada said the wind could cause damage to roof shingles and windows. The wind could toss any loose objects.
