What's Open, Closed On Labour Day

The Labour Day long weekend is upon us, signalling the last of summer vacation before adults and children alike are thrust back into routine.

Celebrated on the first Monday in September, Labour Day honours workers and the labour union movement. The London and District Labour Council will be holding its annual Labour Day Picnic at Thames Park on Ridout St. from noon to 4pm on Monday.

As with most statutory holidays, there are a number of closures to be aware of. Below is a list of what’s open and closed in London on Labour Day.

CLOSED:

Government offices (municipal, provincial, and federal) Canada Post (no mail delivery) Malls (including White Oaks Mall, Masonville Place, and Westmount Shopping Centre) Banks LCBO/Beer Stores Grocery stores Costco Wholesale London Public Library branches Most drug stores (Shoppers Drug Mart locations at 1224 Commissioners Rd.W., 510 Hamilton Rd. and in Sherwood Forest Mall at 1225 Wonderland Rd. N will be open from 9am-6pm)

OPEN:

Labatt Retail Store on Horton St. – 11am-6pm Fanshawe Pioneer Village – 10am – 4pm Fanshawe Conservation Area (for campsite availability call 1-866-668-2267) City spray pads – 9am-9pm Movie theatres The LTC will be running on a Sunday schedule

Normal service returns and the new school year kicks off on Tuesday.
