Windsor Man Arrested After Failing To Stop For OPP

A 23-year-old Windsor man has been arrested after failing to stop for police.

Ontario Provincial Police say they were conducting speed enforcement on the westbound lanes of Hwy 401 near Ingersoll around 11am Friday when they tried to stop a black four-door vehicle.

The driver did not stop for police, continuing to drive in Middlesex County, then Elgin County. OPP officers from Oxford, Middlesex and Elgin joined those in the Highway Safety Division and St. Thomas Police in the pursuit. They were soon able to bring the vehicle to a safe stop on Sunset Rd. near Talbotville.

OPP Constable Stacey Culbert says the officers were never in a chase situation. They used aviation technology to track the vehicle as it travelled, and a tire deflation device, which was eventually used to stop the vehicle.

No injuries were reported. Charges against the driver are pending and the investigation continues.
