SIU Investigating Oxford County Death

Ontario's law enforcement watchdog agency is investigating a death in Oxford County.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened at an address in Zorra Township.

On Friday, an OPP officer arrived at the address and asked a 39-year-old woman to turn herself in as part of an ongoing investigation.

The woman failed to do so, and an officer showed up again around 8:30am Sunday. The officer left after no one answered the door.

Police say individuals who knew the woman found her deceased in the home a short time later.

The OPP has contacted the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which has invoked its mandate in this incident.

Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to this case. A post-mortem is scheduled for Monday in London.

Anyone with information on this matter is asked to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The SIU is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
