Hedley Frontman Charged With Sexual Assault

A singer with a popular Canadian rock band has been charged with sexual assault.

Toronto Police confirmed Monday afternoon that they had arrested Hedley frontman Jacob Hoggard, 34, in connection with several sexual assault cases. The Peel Regional Police is also investigating.

Hoggard is charged with sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm.

Police say that over three dates in 2016, two women were assaulted on separate occasions.

Hoggard was accused earlier this year of sexually assaulting an Ottawa woman he met on the dating app Tinder in November 2016. It was not immediately clear if his arrest on Monday was related to that case.

Following the allegations, the band cancelled most of its concert dates, including a planned stop in Windsor at Caesars Windsor. They also cancelled an appearance at the JUNO Awards in Vancouver.

Police think there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is urged to call Toronto police at (416) 808-7474 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS (8477).
