Ford Returning To London

With a little over a week left in the provincial election campaign, Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford is returning to London.

Ford will hold a rally at the London Convention Centre on York St. at 7:30pm on Wednesday.

This is the PC leader's second stop in the city since the start of the election campaign and his second London rally since becoming party leader.

Over 500 people attended his roughly hour-long rally at the Lamplighter Inn on March 26. He used the rally to touch on a number of issues including hydro prices, hospital wait times, and the economy. His promise of “driving efficiencies” without cutting public sector jobs drew a round of applause from the crowd.

However, Ford's last appearance in London on May 18 was considered far more rocky as he took only one local media question and refused to speak about the whereabouts of his hand-picked London West candidate, Andrew Lawton.

Lawton, who has been dogged by controversial comments he made in the past, skipped Ford's London campaign stop, instead choosing to knock on doors in his riding.

Heading into the June 7 vote, polls are showing it could be a tight race between Ford's PCs and Andrea Horwath's NDP. Kathleen Wynne's Liberals are in third place.
