UPDATE: Arrest Made Following Child Abduction

London police have made an arrest after a 4-year-old girl was abducted from her north-end neighbourhood.

The child was playing with a sibling outside in the area of Barker St. and Melsandra Ave. around 9:15am on Sunday when witnesses saw a vehicle stop in the middle of an intersection nearby. The male driver then got out, picked the girl up, and placed her inside his car before driving away.

Shortly after, the man returned to the area and dropped the girl near where he originally picked her up. She was not physically hurt and was able to run home to tell her parents about the incident, police said.

Police released a description of a suspect and the vehicle used in the abduction on Monday, and later arrested a man in connection with the incident. Charges are pending but no further information is being released at this time.

Another suspect was arrested in connection with the abduction Sunday night but was later released unconditionally.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident or the suspect to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
