Former PC Leader Plans To Sue CTV

The former leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives has confirmed he plans to sue CTV News over its reporting of what he calls false sexual misconduct allegations against him.

Patrick Brown responded in a Facebook post on Thursday to repeated questions he has received about his intentions to file a lawsuit.

"The answer is a resounding yes - I am suing CTV," Brown said in the post. "My lawyers are talking to CTV. Early this week, CTV lawyers agreed to ensure that all emails, texts and other correspondence related to this travesty are held independently for safe keeping."

Brown stepped down as Tory leader in late January, hours after CTV News reported that two unnamed women had come forward with “graphic sexual misconduct allegations” against him. The claims date back to when Brown served as a federal MP.

The politician called the allegations "categorically untrue" and flat out said in his post on Thursday that the two women are lying.

Brown ended his post by stating that supportive messages he has received through social media and in person have given him a boost of confidence.

"You have no idea how much the words of encouragement from people I have never met and even those who start their support with 'I never supported you, but...' means to me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you," said Brown.

It is not clear whether Brown has yet to file a statement of claim with the courts on the issue.

The television network said earlier this week that it continues to stand by its story.
