Christmas Tree Pickup Extended

The City of London says residents will have to wait a bit longer to ditch their Christmas trees.

According to a news release, Christmas tree curbside pickup, which was supposed to wrap up on Saturday, is running five to six days behind schedule. It is reported that at the end of the day Saturday, only about half the streets were visited.

The release states that there are about 7,000 households that still have trees at the curb.

The delay is said to be caused by last week's cold and stormy weather, which took time away from the collection of Christmas trees.

Collection will resume on Monday in Zone A and most of Zones D, E, and F. These zones include streets in Westmount, north east and north central London, Old South, and the White Oaks area.

Residents are asked to leave their tree at the curb and it will be picked up this week.

The city asks residents to ensure the tree is visible, on level ground, and free of snow, ice, decorations, or plastic.

If you would rather drop it off yourself, the city's EnviroDepots accept trees as well. The depots on Clarke Rd. and Oxford St. are open Wednesday from 12pm to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 5pm.

You can also keep your tree in your backyard until the spring for green week collection.
