With all of the melting snow and rain, conservation officials are concerned about possible flooding in London.
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority issued a flood watch for the area on Thursday. While no serious flooding is expected at this time, water levels are very high in most areas. Water has also begun to pool in areas such as Harris Park and Gibbons Park.
Between 20 and 30 mm of rain is forecast for Thursday through to Friday morning. The amount of water from melting snow is estimated at around 40-50 mm.
Water levels are expected to remain high over the weekend and the conservation authority is currently monitoring the situation.
Residents are urged to use extreme caution near all watercourses, and keep children and pets away. Ice is currently unstable and thin, the streambanks are slippery and the water is very cold.
