What's Open, Closed On New Year's Day

The arrival of 2018 comes with not only a three day weekend for many Londoners, but a list of New Year's Day closures.

Government offices, banks, and London Public Library branches will be closed on Monday. There will be no mail delivery that day either.

Shopping malls including White Oaks Mall, C.F. Masonville Place, and Westmount Shopping Centre, all LCBO stores, Beer Stores, and the Labatt Retail Store on Richmond St. will be closed on New Year’s Day. The Covent Garden Market, grocery stores, Costco Wholesale, and most drug stores will also be shut down for the day.

Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Sherwood Forest Mall at 1225 Wonderland Rd. N, in Byron at 1224 Commissioners Rd.W., and at 410 Talbot St. W. in St. Thomas will be open from 9am-6pm.

Movie theatres and the city’s outdoor skating rinks at Victoria Park, the Covent Garden Market, and Storybook Gardens Skate Trail will be open. Eldon House will host its annual free New Year’s Levee from 1pm to 4pm on January 1. The London Knights will host the Sarnia Sting at Budweiser Gardens at 4pm.

The LTC will be running on a Sunday schedule.

School age children and teachers will not return to the classroom until January 8. Regular store hours and public transit schedules resume on Tuesday.
