Home Invader Assaults Seniors

Provincial police are looking for a suspect after two seniors were seriously hurt in a home invasion in southwest Middlesex.

OPP say a man knocked on the door to a rural home on Oil Field Drive around 4:30pm on Wednesday and briefly spoke to the two elderly men inside before leaving. After a few moments, the man forced his way into the home while wearing a disguise and assaulted the two residents with a weapon.

The man demanded money and stole one of the victim's vehicles.

A 67-year-old man and a 79-year-old man were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not said what type of weapon was used in the attack.

They are searching for a man described as white, 25-30 years-old, approximately 5'8", with an unkempt beard. The stolen vehicle was a white 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, with Ontario license plate number BEJV065.

Anyone who spots the stolen vehicle is advised not to approach it or anyone inside of it but instead call 911.
