Two Drivers Pass Stopped School Buses

Two drivers in St. Thomas are learning the hard way it doesn't pay to blow by a stopped school bus that has its lights flashing.

Police say both of the incidents happened Tuesday while kids were going home for the day. The first was on Burwell Rd. and the second was on South Edgeware Rd.

Officers say in both cases, a driver passed a bus that was at a full stop with its red lights flashing, its stop sign extended, and its crossing arm out. Students were also leaving both of the buses when the vehicles went by.

Each of the bus drivers were able to take down the licence plate numbers of the vehicles that drove past them, so the owners of both of those vehicles were issued $490 fines and six demerit points.
