One Injured in London House Explosion

One personĀ is in hospital with serious burns following a suspected house explosion in southeast London.

London Fire Platoon Chief John Hunt says the incident occurred Monday afternoon at 1335 Hamilton Rd, on the edge of the Fairmont neighbourhood.

There were at least three people in the home at the time. Two were able to get out safely but Hunt says one man was seriously burned.

“He had second and third degree burns on his body,” says Hunt.

No other homes in the area were affected, and Hunt says Union Gas and London Hydro were on scene to cut utilities to the home as a precaution.

The exact cause of the incident has not been determined.
