RCMP Charge London Woman In Veterans Benefits Fraud

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police says it has arrested a 61-year-old London woman for allegedly collecting survivor benefits that did not belong to her.

The London Financial Crime Unit investigated after it was alerted by Veteran Affairs Canada. It says it continued to issue survivor benefit cheques because it was never told the rightful recipient, the suspect's mother, had passed away.

It is believed more than $26,000 in cheques were cashed over a 14-month period.

Terrill Anne Brooke is charged with fraud over $5,000 and is expected to appear in a London court Monday morning.
