Man Seriously Injured in Crash

Ontario Provincial Police in Norfolk County are investigating a crash that sent one man to hospital.

Police say a Volkswagen was traveling southbound on Blueline Rd in Townsend shortly after 4:30 Saturday afternoon when the vehicle drifted into the northbound lane. The vehicle drove off the road, entered a ditch and struck a tree.

The driver, a 21-year-old Norfolk County man, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance with serious, life-threatening injuries. He was later airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to a hospital in Hamilton. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The driver's name has not been released.

The OPP's Technical Collision Investigators were on the scene Saturday evening. Blueline Rd between Concession Rd 11 and Rd 12 in Townsend remains closed.
