Search For Missing Ontario Girl Continues

Police are continuing their search for a nine-year-old Welland girl believed to have been abducted by her mother.

An Amber Alert was issued Friday night, but was cancelled early Saturday morning. However, police said Layla Sabry was still missing. They later clarified that the Amber Alert wasn't cancelled, but rather, protocol requires the broadcasting of the Amber Alert to cease after five hours.

A post on the Niagara Regional Police Service's Facebook page Saturday afternoon and a corresponding tweet indicated that the Amber Alert had been concluded, but the investigation continues.

Police say Layla and her mother Allana Haist were last seen Thursday at 6 p.m. in Welland.

Police say they are operating under a court order to return the child to her father.

Layla is described as white, 4'2", with light brown hair and brown eyes.

Her mother, who police say also goes by the aliases of Kate Dillon or Lana Marie, is white, 5'11", with medium length brown hair with brown eyes.
