Dead Baby Case Put Off Another Month

It will be another month before the woman charged after a dead baby was found in a downtown London dumpster returns to court.

Samantha Richards' case was back before the courts on Thursday, where a representative for defence lawyer Patricia Brown requested more time to review disclosure documents from the Crown. The Amherstburg woman was not present for the brief hearing.

Richards is charged with neglecting to obtain assistance in childbirth and with disposing of a child’s body after delivery. The charges were laid after the body of a baby was discovered in a garbage dumpster in the area of Richmond St. and Mill St. on June 16.

A publication ban is in place on all evidence and information heard in court.

The case returns to the London courthouse on October 20.
