Charges Laid In Pot Dispensary Raid

Two men have now been charged with drug trafficking in connection with a raid at London's newest medical marijuana dispensary.

London police swooped down on the Tasty Budd's location at 96 Wharncliffe Rd. S. just before 12pm on Wednesday. Officers seized $11,450 worth of marijuana, $2,000 worth of marijuana edibles, and over $400 cash.

London franchise owner, 28-year-old Timothy Balogh and a 23-year-old male employee are charged with two counts of drug trafficking, and two counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Tasty Budd's open its London store last Friday, with Balogh saying the goal was to provide fair and reasonable access to medical marijuana.

“We’re selling high-quality product, you’re getting the best quality but we’re also following strict regulations,” Balogh told BlackburnNews.com last week. “You have to have a medical card or prescription, we’re going to verify with the doctors before any sales are made.”

However, federal regulations say people with medical marijuana prescriptions can only get their pot from government-approved suppliers.

The investigation is on-going.
