Be Wary Of Door-To-Door Watertesters

City officials are urging Londoners to be cautious of door-to-door salespeople who ask to test their water.

In a news release issued on Thursday, the city reassured residents that London’s water is treated to surpass provincial quality standards and discretion should be used with door-to-door salespeople.

City staff will occassionally contact homeowners regarding water quality issues. Those employees will provide proper identification and will never try to sell any sort of product.

The Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services says no door-to-door sales people are authorized to do a health-based test on your water, and chemical trickery may make your water look brown simply because of natural mineral content.

Anyone who is approached by a salesperson who suggests they are affiliated with the City of London can call city hall to confirm. Information can also be found on the city's website www.london.ca.
