Man Charged In Strathroy Mac's Robbery

Police have made an arrest following an armed robbery at a Strathroy convenience store.

Strathroy-Caradoc police say a man, armed with a knife walked into the Mac's Variety on Front St. just before 4:30am Sunday and demanded money from the store clerk.

The man then took off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. The clerk was not hurt.

Police, with help from the London police K9 unit, searched the area. They found a knife believed to be involved in the robbery a short distance away.

A 24-year-old Strathroy man was arrested at his residence a few hours later.

He is charged with robbery and wearing a disguise.

Police are trying to determine whether there is any connection with this robbery and a violent, armed home invasion last Thursday on Thomas St.
