Dog-Fighting Ring Suspect Faces More Charges

The investigation into an alleged dog-fighting ring in Tilbury last fall led police to another suspected dog-fighting participant and more charges.

Police seized seven dogs near Kent Bridge earlier this month. At the time 32-year-old Robert Tomlin was charged with two counts of cruelty to animals.

Now police and the OSPCA say they have a full veterinarian's assessment of the dogs. They say it determined three of them have injuries consistent with dog fighting. It also confirms them as Pit Bull type dogs, which are banned in Ontario.

Tomlin now faces three more charges of cruelty to animals and seven of owning a pit bull type dog.

He's due back in court March 30.

A total of four people now face more than 300 charges in connection with the investigation.
