Cold Weather Alert Ended

London's first cold weather alert of the year has ended.

The Middlesex London Health Unit cancelled the alert shortly after 11am Tuesday as temperatures climbed above -15C.

The alert was issued Monday as frigid weather arrived in the city, causing temperatures to plummet to -17C overnight.

The drop in temperature brought an increased risk of frostbite and hypothermia for those spending any length of time outdoors.

Agencies that help the homeless were told to prepare for an increase in demand for their services.

The health unit issues a cold weather alert whenever the temperature is expected to drop below -15C.
