Rockin' The Stockin' Toy Drive Underway

Classic Rock Free 98-1 and the Salvation Army are teaming up again this year to make sure every little boy and girl in London has a present under the tree this Christmas.

Bins for the Rockin' the Stockin' Toy Drive have been set up outside of the Santa display area at White Oaks Mall, where people can drop off new, unwrapped toys.

"The biggest need is always the ten to 12-year-olds, that tween age group," says Salvation Army Spokesman Perron Goodyear. "We suggest items like soccer balls, footballs, basketballs, curling irons, hairdryers, and board games are a big hit as well. So any of those types of things would help."

During the holidays the Salvation Army assists 5,800 London households. That amounts to over 6,000 bags of toys that are needed.

"Folks seem to be very generous in the city of London. They want to make sure no child, in particular, goes without at Christmas time," says Goodyear. "So we are obviously very grateful to the people of London for their support of the Salvation Army but also their support of the most vulnerable in the community."

The Rockin' the Stockin' Toy Drive continues until December 23.
