Victoria Park Lights Up Friday

Londoners will be walking in a winter wonderland Friday.

The annual "Lighting of the Lights" at Victoria Park kicks off with caroling at 6:15pm, followed by the countdown to the illumination of the park at 6:50pm.

The theme again this year is winter wonderland with more than 75,000 lights strung up in the park's many trees, a variety of festive displays, and Santa's Mailbox for children to send their wish list to the man in red.

New this year is Santa's House, where kids can get their photo taken with Jolly Old Saint Nick daily from 1pm-4pm and 6pm-9pm with a donation. All funds raised will go to the Teresina Larizza Charity which provides comfort and support to children facing health challenges, especially those in hospital.

The outdoor skating rink in Victoria park, a longstanding holiday tradition in London, will open for the season December 4 (weather permitting ). It will be open daily from 10am to 10pm.

The winter wonderland lights will brighten the park from 5:30pm until 11pm daily until New Year's Day.

Those looking for the best vantage point to take in the lights can head to the Promenade Deck above city hall. It will be open nightly from 7pm to 11pm, with a few exceptions in December.
