London Shows Support Following Paris Terror Attacks

The colours of the French flag will light up city buildings in London to show support following the deadly attacks in Paris.

The City of London says the colours of the French flag will be on a two-second cycle on the façade of City Hall and the three colours will show simultaneously on the façade of the J. Allen Taylor building. As well, the Blackburn Memorial Fountain will be lit up in white.

“We do this as a sign of solidarity, sympathy and support with the people of France in the wake of the heinous terrorist attacks Friday night,” says Mayor Matt Brown in a media release. ”I join all Londoners in condemning these cowardly acts. We stand united in our grief for those killed and injured and our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by these attacks.”

The Canadian flag at City Hall will also be lowered to half-staff.

France has declared three days of national mourning after the terrorist attacks killed more than 120 people.
