Ryan O'Reilly Facing Impaired Driving Charges

Local NHL player Ryan O'Reilly is facing charges after an incident in Lucan.

Middlesex County OPP say they were dispatched to a business on Richmond Street where a vehicle had struck the building and fled the scene.

That building appears to be a Tim Hortons:

The green pickup truck was found a short time later on Harold Court, the occupants of the vehicle were located on Main Street.

Police say it was determined that the driver of the vehicle had been drinking alcohol and was placed under arrest and transported to an OPP detachment for breath testing.

As a result of the investigation, O'Reilly faces impaired driving and fail to remain charges. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in a London Courthouse on August 20.

O'Reilly, a Varna native made headlines earlier this month by being traded to the Buffalo Sabres and signing a seven-year contract extension worth $52.5-million.

Update: Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray released a statement in regards to O'Reilly:

“We are aware of the reports regarding the incident involving Ryan O’Reilly last week. We are currently in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment until we have spoken with all parties involved.”
