London Roundhouse Set To Open Its Doors

After delays and 18 months of renovations, two local businesses have moved into the historic London Roundhouse.

The former locomotive engine house that was built in 1887 will be become home to two tech businesses -- Ellipsis Digital and Engine SevenFour. The grand opening of the new offices will take place on April 22

Shawn Adamsson, the vice president of strategy with Ellipsis Digital, says he wanted to respect the heritage space as much as possible during the renovations.

"So, not wanting to put in anything that didn't feel like it belonged," he says. "The primary building materials for this place are brick, wood, steel and concrete. There's a lot of glass so the view of place isn't impeded in any way. But it has a very industrial feel."

Adamsson says the Roundhouse is a great example of how to repurpose a historical building into something remarkable.

"In addition to getting this place built, we've spent the last 18 months researching the history of the building, and we've had so much help from so many different parts of the heritage community," says Adamsson. "We're just really, really excited to share this space."

The cost of the renovations at the Roundhouse building total around $4-million.

The companies are posting their historical photos and information about the building's renovations HERE.
