Father Of Abandoned Baby Wanted By Police

An arrest warrant has now been issued for the father of a baby abandoned in a driveway of a London home earlier this week.

On Tuesday just before 6am, the 8-week-old baby boy was discovered outside in the cold, in front of an Emery St. residence by a neighbour. The child was found in a car seat, which was covered in frost.

The mother of the infant is currently charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and abandoning a child.

London Police Service Staff Sergeant Paul Waight says the father of the infant, Craig Lush, 31, of St. Thomas, is now wanted for domestic abuse related charges, including assault and two counts of property damage.

Waight says the mother made the allegations of assault to officers upon her arrest for impaired driving four hours before her child was discovered in the driveway. However, Waight says the woman was incoherent at the time of her arrest, which delayed the investigation process.

Waight says at the time of the arrest, the woman also made mention of her baby being in her vehicle. However, upon examination of the vehicle, officers did not discover the child, as he had been left in the driveway of the Emery St. residence.
