Fire officials are investigating after a barn erupted into flames just south of Hwy. 401 in Thames Centre.

Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police say on Saturday around 2:23pm, an officer from the  OPP Highway Safety Division was aboard an OPP plane and observed the barn fire in the 3700-block of Dorchester Rd. from the air. The officer notified the OPP communications centre and emergency crews were sent to the area.

Police say there were no injuries and the property owner was able to remove their livestock from the barn.

Police closed a section of Dorchester Rd. between Cromarty Dr. and Thompson Rd. but it has since been reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
