Two Dogs Abandoned While Owners Vacation

The Humane Society has rescued two dogs from a London home after their owners took off on vacation and left them to fend for themselves.

Officials say the two small-breed dogs were left alone with self-feeding and watering devices, both of which were empty when the animals were taken into custody at the end of July.

They say the home was littered with urine and fecal matter.

The homeowners have yet to return from vacation, so no charges have been laid.

"At this point in time we are still waiting to speak to the owners," says Executive Director of the London Humane Society Judy Foster.

Both dogs, one a teacup yorkie and the other a chihuahua cross, are currently up for adoption at the Clarke Rd. facility.

These dogs were seized the same day a London couple pleaded guilty to leaving a chihuahua puppy locked in a bathroom during a two-week out of province vacation.
