London police say a 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired by drugs after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle that left the motorcycle rider in hospital with serious injuries.

It happened around 8:30am Thursday at the intersection of Gladstone Ave. and Russell St. in the area of Thompson Rd. and King Edward Ave.

Police say the woman was driving a Pontiac Pursuit westbound on Russell St. when she allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign and drove into the path of the southbound motorcycle.

The bike hit the side of her car, injuring the 50-year-old male motorcycle driver. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and is listed in fair condition.

Police say charges are pending.
