Loblaw workers with UFCW Local 1000A have voted to accept a new agreement, averting a strike that could have started first thing Saturday.
Some 12,000 employees from London to Ottawa voted over the past few days, ending Wednesday evening, and say final percentages will be available Thursday night.
The new deal takes effect today, July 9, and lasts six years.
A strike deadline of July 5 was postponed to give union members an opportunity to weigh in on an amended offer from the company.
