Pinafore Park In St. Thomas Vandalized

St. Thomas police are looking for vandals who tore up Pinafore Park over the weekend.

Investigators say flower pots were knocked over, portable washrooms were tipped, flowers were thrown about the park and 21 picnic tables were flipped over. On top of that, those responsible drew on the new band shell and knocked over the park's garbage cans.

Officers say they are on the hunt for those responsible and criminal charges will likely be laid.

"This is disappointing to say the least. Pinafore Park is one of our pristine public gathering places in the city and our parks and recreation staff work hard every day to keep it looking its best," a St. Thomas Police Service news release reads. "A lot of hard work goes into growing and planting the flowers that people enjoy seeing as they walk, run or drive through the park."

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact police or CrimeStoppers.
