Regional Rideshare Program Expanding

The city is revamping its regional rideshare program to have a wider reach for those looking to carpool.

Through regionalrideshare.ca you can find someone who lives and works close to you who is interested in carpooling. It is now being offered in St. Marys, St. Thomas, Stratford, Huron County, Lambton County Middlesex County and Perth County.

The goal is to reduce traffic and pollution all while saving those in the region a little bit of money.

"It asks what times you work, it asks you if you're a smoker of if you prefer to stop at your local coffee shop along the way and that's how the service tries to find a match behind the scenes," says the City of London's TDM Coordinator. "It's one (web site) that's being promoted by the city, a trusted source."

Those who offer rides or are looking for a driver must agree to terms and conditions before using the web site. Pairs also must meet first in a public place before agreeing to ride together.
