London Company Secures Federal Funding For Expansion

A London company is getting a $4-million boost from the federal government to help triple its workforce.

Starlim North America Corp. is planning a $20-million expansion at its facility off of Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The company has been at that location since 2005. Workers there manufacture silicone parts used in soothers, dialysis machines and the auto sector.

"We are really running out of space, so this gives us the ability to expand by bringing in new machines and diversifying our products," says Starlim Vice President Vijay Lakshmikanthan. "In the project time frame of two years there will be 20 additional hires but at full capacity we will have over 180 people in this facility, right now we have 52."

MP Ed Holder made the announcement today. The $4-million grant is repayable and allows the company to secure the other $16-million needed for the project.
