Animals Find Homes At Super Adoption Day

Dozens of pets could find new homes by the end of the day.

Saturday is Super Adoption Day in London.

Representatives from the London Humane Society, London Animal Care Centre and many other animal rescue groups will have displays at an event at the Western Fair District.

"It's a great opportunity for people who are thinking about having a pet to come out and ask some questions," says Ron Oke, animal welfare coordinator for the City of London. "[People can] get a sense of whats needed and how much it costs to have a [pet] for a whole year."

People will also have the chance to learn about the adoption process and local rescue agencies and meet the animals looking for homes.

"The animals are usually spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, parasite controled, licenced and sometimes micro-chipped," says Oke. "So for the one fee, your're pretty well covered."

According to Oke, about 65 animals found homes as a result of last year's Super Adoption Day.

The event runs from 10am until 4pm on Saturday at the Canada Building in the Western Fair District.
