The Ambassador Bridge has fully reopened after a vehicle hauling a trailer caught fire on the U.S. side of the bridge.
Traffic in both directions was at a standstill as Detroit firefighters responded to the blaze.
The bridge is expected to be backed up for hours. Officials recommend using the tunnel Tuesday night.
"CBSA is actively working with the Bridge Authority to ensure that traffic is facilitated as effectively and efficiently as possible," says CBSA spokesperson Wendy Atkin in an email to BlackburnNews.com "We are committed to reducing the current delays and will use all available resources and make every effort to manage these larger traffic volumes while ensuring safety and security at the border."
