UPDATE: Report Of Man On Ice Under Bridge (VIDEO)

The Lambton County OPP has ended an investigation into a reported sighting of a man on an ice floe in the St. Clair River after the man contacted police.

The man made contact with the OPP after police put out a request to public to help identify him after he was seen under the Blue Water Bridge Saturday night. Police say he is in good health and uninjured.

Police were notified around 9pm and an extensive search was launched involving Sarnia police, the Sarnia and Point Edward fire departments, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, the Canadian and U.S. coast guards and the Port Huron Police Department.

The multi-agency search was unable to locate the man.

Police say the investigation has concluded and no charges will be laid.

People are warning residents to stay clear of rivers, creeks, or streams, because the water is extremely cold and may be fast running and dangerous.

Police also ask caregivers to educate children about water dangers and ice conditions and to keep children and pets well away from wet, slippery river banks.

If you are planning to be near or on a waterway, police say it’s important to let others know where you are and to advise when you plan to return.

32-year-old Curt Brown posted a YouTube video of his Saturday night escapade, telling police he's a military diver based out of the HMCS Prevost Naval Reserve in London.
