Violent Crime On The Decline

Statistics from London police for 2014 show violent crime in the city is on the decline.

The murder rate dropped drastically, from nine homicides in 2013 to only two last year.

The number of reported sexual assaults also dropped from 288 to 236.

Meanwhile, thefts, frauds and robberies are on the rise. In 2013, there were 166 robberies reported to police, compared to 177 in 2014.

Theft reports skyrocketed the most, with 7,978 reported in 2013 and 8,903 in 2014.

A total of 1,471 people reported being defrauded last year, compared to only 1,269 the previous year.

Overall, there were 25,599 criminal charges laid by London police.
