Two Charged With Insurance Fraud
The Elgin County OPP says residents are facing a slew of charges after reporting a false robbery to police.
Investigators say on March 19, 2014, police received a call for a break and enter at an Elgin County home, where several items and a 2005 Jeep Wrangler were reportedly stolen.
Officers were tipped off last month that the robbery claim was a false one.
Search warrants were executed at two different homes. The 2005 Jeep Wrangler was found, along with other items that had been reported stolen, two marijuana plants, marijuana bud and a 12 gauge shotgun.
David Roberts, 39, of Central Elgin faces charges of fraud, public mischief, possession of a schedule II substance – marijuana, unauthorized possession of a firearm and remove/alter/destroy vehicle identification number.
Lori Dagg, 38, of Central Elgin faces charges of fraud, public mischief, possession of a schedule II substance – marijuana and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Both will appear in a St. Thomas court at a later date.
