Residents of southwestern Ontario are being told to brace for even colder temperatures than what we've seen in recent days.
Environment Canada issued an Extreme Cold Warning on Wednesday afternoon, with forecasters calling for wind chill values reaching -30C at times.
The forecast for London calls for an overnight low of -20C with a wind chill reading of -29C. On Thursday, the temperature is expected to remain at -20C with a wind chill of -33C. Thursday night will see a low of -27C with a -35C wind chill.
The weather agency says very cold wind chill values are likely to continue through Friday, before improving somewhat on Saturday.
The warning comes after both the Middlesex-London Health Unit and Elgin-St. Thomas Health Unit extended their cold weather alerts this week.
People who are planning to be outside over the next few days are strongly encouraged to make sure they dress appropriately, wearing layers and making sure exposed skin is covered.
Officials suggest watching for the symptoms of hypothermia, which can include confusion, lethargy, slurred speech, and loss of consciousness.
