Putting food trucks on London streets won't be a smooth ride.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Community and Protective Services Committee will consider a staff report on a food truck pilot project including a request to cut the number of licenses in half.
A written request from Downtown London suggests reducing the number of food trucks involved in a pilot project to 2% of the brick-and-mortar eateries, or four trucks. The staff report recommends a limit of eight trucks. The group has sent a letter to the committee that also asks for involvement in evaluating the pilot project.
The committee will also consider requiring food truck operators to install GPS tracking. It's thought the devices would ensure that trucks sell their wares on approved streets at approved times, and would back them up in the case of any dispute.
The Committee meets at 4 pm at City Hall.
